You may ask yourself why you need to SEO your business website? Many small business owners spend a lot on getting their website developed. They are often "undersold" by webmasters who just sell them the website but do not explain about the Internet Marketing side of things. There are two reasons why people do this. Firstly a lot of designers dont like SEO and dont know about it. Setting a website up to look good to Goolge is one thing, and setting it up to look good to clients is another thing entirely. So there is a balance, making the site search friendly and making it Google friendly.

So what are the differences?

Firstly SEO is not just about getting a website listed in Google, there are many other factors and other places people advertise, but for the sake of arguement lets focus on the Google side of things, since this is the medium that most small business owners are trying to target.

Good SEO is not just about onpage optimisation,. There are many other factors you should consider like the age of domain name for instance. It might be a good idea to buy an older domain name for your website since domains that are several years old are often favoured by Google - and that is a good thing to have for your business.

You can look at article marketing but make sure you just get links from really good article sites, since bad article sites will not help your SEO and are generally speaking a complete waste of time and energies.
